History of General Motors

The multinational company from the Usa has offered secured jobs to huge numbers of people all over the world. The GM has its own base in nearly 35 advanced countries and manufacture trucks and cars. The vehicles are sold under different brands for example Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GM Daewoo, Hummer, Opal, Pontiac, etc.
The company was established by William Durant in 1902 as an investment firm for Buick. Soon, the same year the organization purchased the rights from other companies for example Cadillac, Oakland, and Elmore. The economic crisis and stock market panic in 1907 turned out to be the golden opportunity for William Durant. The same year he managed to dominate many car companies that built car parts in addition to car and truck accessories. This method delivered General Motors in 1908. This strategy helped to increase the sale of GM and by now, the folks could buy car on credits.
The times never remain the same and the economic crisis in 1929 was again a set back in good reputation for General Motors. The stocks fell badly, but still GM managed to bounce back in 1930. They included Electro-Motive Corporation, the interior combustion engine car builder. This task delivered diesel and petrol fueled cars which were more effective and comfortable. The year 1955 is yet another landmark in the good reputation for General Motors. In this year, GM had become the first company to generate a lot more than billion dollars in a year.
The GM has expanded their business by manufacturing hybrid pick up trucks in 2006. The Silverado and Sierra hybrid trucks from GM are considered to be economical and consume less fuel. The current reports suggest that the GM is in serious financial trouble and had to close few plants. Anyway, the history of General Motors shows that the organization has gone through many difficult procedures in yesteryear.
